I would love to be able to move a component relative to it’s current location, to nudge a component 10 mils to the right for example without having to do the math to the absolute co-ordinates.
Great question! Here’s how to do it:
- Set the grid size (bottom right corner) to how much you’d like to nudge. The menu will show some standard grid sizes (like 1 mil, 5 mil, 10 mil), but if you want something else just click “Custom”.
- Select the component. Then tap the respective arrow key once on the keyboard. The component will move in that direction by exactly one grid spacing.
Try it and let us know how it goes!
Is this true even if the part is off grid?
Parts are always on-grid in Upverter. Internally the tool maintains a 1nm (nanometer) grid. So all component X/Y coordinates get rounded to the nearest nanometer. Hope that clarifies things!
