I’m working on a broadcast video application where I need to generate clocks with a variety of rates. Has anyone used any programmable PLLs that have proved to work well?
Hey Albert,
I’ve used the Texas Instruments CDCE906 on a few high-end designs with much success. They’re easy to work with, flexible, have an I2C interface, and are simple to write code for. They also have 3 PLLs inside, though only 1 reference input. One feature that was handy was that there are two output I/O voltages which can be handy if the PLL outputs need to feed back into an FPGA or ASIC at a voltage level different from the input reference.
