The Challenge

Manufacturing footprints for new generation products are significantly sophisticated and evolve at a much faster rate. This requires very innovative thinking in development of design, automation, test and operational footprint. It will require a wide array of experienced individuals to be successful. You will be embedded as part of a technology team that ranges from launching products and developing next generation sensors.

A Jawbone Automation Engineer, AE, is a subject matter expert that supports the creation of new product automation, tools/fixtures, DFA, platform readiness, and production execution. The position assists in the design, fabricate, modification, evaluation, installation, documentation, service and support of Jawbone IP automation for electro/mechanical, metals and molded assemblies.

Responsibilities:

Participates and recommends DFA changes to new product design and/or the manufacturing process to achieve efficiency, quality, and/or cost improvements through automated assembly.
Assist in the development of requirement specifications, system concepts, CAD generated machine layouts, detail drawings, BOMs, and budgets.
Offers new ideas and suggestions and drives continuous improvement in quality and/or velocity of automated equipment and processes.
Work with contract manufacturer engineers and manufacturing to trouble-shoot problems, introduce upgrades & enhancements, reduce set-up, methods development, and establish process parameters and controls.
May conduct “proof of concept” experiments using six sigma methodology.
May develop or validate SOP’s, operations and maintenance manuals.
May research new technology or development tools to remain informed of new technology
May prepare automation design proposals and layouts of basic and some complex assemblies and details of parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
Review and track projects for accuracy, clarity and completeness to assure on-time delivery, performance, quality and adherence to budget.
Skills and Experience:

Engineering or Technical Discipline Bachelor’s Degree preferred
A minimum of seven years of experience in automation engineering and project management
Proven ability to multi-task and execute projects
Effective communication and high level presentations (internally and externally)
Proven ability to direct resources, plan project activity and monitor financial budgets
• Expert in 2D mechanical drawings; CAD skills relating to automation design including preliminary design proposals, concepts and layouts
Skilled in DFA analysis
Ability to write clear and timely technical reports, summaries and project related correspondence in English
Direct experience developing and implementing automation strategies for high volume electro-mechanical consumer products
Experience in Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies preferred
Candidates must be willing and able to travel to support project activities at supplier sites. The ability to travel to the United States, Asia and Europe destinations is required.
